Smart Pet Feeder
ArduinoC++3D PrintingIoT
Summary
Designed to modernize pet care through automation, this project is a fully functional IoT solution that bridges the gap between hardware mechanics and web connectivity. The primary challenge was to create a reliable dispensing mechanism that could be controlled remotely without requiring complex cloud infrastructure.
The system is built upon a hybrid architecture using an Arduino Nano for precise hardware actuation and a Wemos D1 Mini (ESP8266) for Wi-Fi connectivity. I used 3D-printed rotary mechanism driven by servo motors to dispense exact portions from internal hoppers.
Users interact with the device through a responsive web interface hosted directly on the Wemos module. This allows for dynamic scheduling (like dispensing every 4 hours), immediate manual dispensing via the dashboard, and system status monitoring. By offloading network tasks to the Wemos module while the Arduino handles physical motor control, the system achieves high reliability and low latency.
Key Features
- Remote Web Interface for schedule management
- Hybrid Architecture (Arduino Nano + Wemos Wi-Fi)
- Precision Servo Motor control for portioning
- 3D-printed mechanical chassis
- Manual override and system reset capabilities
